Composeal Technical Bulletin #96-1

Compotite Corporation 800/221-1056 Chemical Compatibility List

Following is a compatibility list for a variety of chemicals and solvents and their effect on COMPOSEAL membranes.

Please be sure that all materials used in COMPOSEAL assembly are void of any poorly rated chemicals before installation. If a new product is being used within the system assembly, call the manufacturer of the new product and Compotite for compatibility verification.

All standard materials used in ceramic tile installations are compatible with COMPOSEAL. However, there are some particle boards coming on the market that use harsh chemicals and solvents which may, under certain circumstances, react with our membranes. Also, many petroleum based products, such as creosoted lumber, as well as pressure treated wood, asphalt or bituminous based materials, can affect the performance of COMPOSEAL membranes.

If you have any questions, please call 800/221-1056.

***In lesser concentrations, Toluene is OK. The quantity is controlled in cement, but when used in large quantities it will melt the membrane.
